Above it All

I’m lifted off the ground

At first only twenty feet

Tethered and safely kept

Until the wire comes loose

Suddenly, I’m lifting up high

Going faster than the rest

The view becomes large

I see more than I’ve ever seen

More than I’ve ever known

Now, I see the possibilities

Above the ground so high

I’ll always know where to go

When I feel so outside of myself

Above it all, I forget my troubles

For now, I’m part of a new role

Alone and Happy from all there is

I’m higher than the fear I left behind

Going higher and feeling relieved

I’ll be there soon and unsteady

When I let go, I’ll be untouchable

Above it all, I’m still me
